I say it has. Waving flags, bumper magnets, T-shirts, blindly following our ELECTED leaders, bashing ***ANYONE*** that dare speak against that leader, military or status quo.
Lying to the people of the United States and the world. There are too many lies to list them all, and new ones are told daily, especially by the Minister of Fact Reconstruction, Scott McClellan. Many of the lies are documented at the website, http://www.bushwatch.com/bushlies.htm For me, the lies that require nothing less than impeachment are the lies that led us into war, and the absurdity of the staged aircraft carrier jet landing where Bush stated, "Mission accomplished." By themselves, the Downing Street Memo(s) are evidence enough for impeachment. The downingstreetmemo.com website explains,
The Downing Street "Memo" is actually meeting minutes transcribed during the British Prime Minister's meeting on July 23, 2002. Published by The Sunday Times on May 1, 2005 it was the first hard evidence from within the UK or US governments that exposed the truth behind how the Iraq war began.
compared to what it was before and should still be I will say it is not what is considered enough , but. people have almost given up because our politicians have let out side forces dictate to them what to do even in protecting our country, congress should have let our men go into Iraq and Afghanistan with revenge on their minds, remember Teddy Roosevelt, his battle cry was ( remember the Maine) our sunken ship in Cuba, no war has ever been won by the politicians and our P.C.**** heads give our men the freedom to fight and win , you will see a big difference, then you will also see patriotism bloom, how can people be patriotic when we are in a no win war because our politicians won't let us win, same in Viet Nam and Korea.
I am not for people bashing our military to me they are off limits when it comes to critizing. Mainly because the military job is to execute a mission not to use personal feelings. But to your point I consider those who you mention above that say they are pro american and say those that oppose the presidnents policy as being anti-american are really the ones who are being unpatriotic. American was founded on dissension and those who hate dissension are the ones who are being unpatriotic. My philosophy is I many disagree with you but I will fight for your right to say it. To bad many of these Bush cronies do not follow this mantra.
Perhaps you have defined the whole problem in this country and represent it. No one says you have to agree, but our country still is the best we have, and at least you have the freedom to disagree. You take advantage of every freedom those before you have fought for and then you disregard it to spit at your own flag. You certainly have the right, but I respect the country I live in, and my democratically elected leaders deserve my support.
Definitely.........whipping up patriotic fervour is the main method that warmongers and dictators use to achieve their goals. Hitler was a master of mass hysteria, the US got hold of all their playbooks when they resettled the nazi scientists in New Mexico etc.
I think you can be a patriot and not have to advertise to everybody that you are. A true patriot takes action to contribute to their nation and it's people. Some people don't do jack but fly flags and paste bumper stickers everywhere. Those types are lame.
I hope not. We have a great country to be proud of regardless of our elected leaders at present. I don't see anything lame about showing one's patriotism.
unless you're a little id or an old man it's always been lame, it was catching on after 9/11, you got 2 1/2 wars out of it, but the parties winding down.

Bashing corrupt leaders who seize power and try to run your country into the ground IS patriotic!
