I mean stupid things like don't sing "baa baa black sheep" or blackboard must be called a chalkboard because somehow the word black is offensive. Or don't read to children the 3 little pigs because it might offend muslims. Sometimes I think white people with stupid overpaid paper pushing jobs have invented "offensive" things without having ever even talked to the races concerned. Another more serious issue is political correctness is holding back arrests of suspected muslim terroists and deportation I know many lovely peaceful muslims but face facts! What is with using the words African American and Caucasion, what is wrong with black and white? Why do women make such a big deal and want to use Ms! I live in Honduras in I'm the only white girl around for miles, they call me "gringa" and other annoying names but so what, it's not like they're beating me up. There's more important things to think about in the world.

It's been too far gone for ages now- it really gets to me- back in the qualifying games for Euro 2008 there was a big uproar about people being asked to take england flags off cars and out of windows because the government feared it would upset other nationalities living in england... RIDICULOUS!
Someone needs to step in and tell some people to pipe down and stop ruining it for everyone because of the few extremists who get upset at tiny tiny things. RAAAAGH! lol
If you gave some examples of what you mean by that it would be easier to answer the question. Since your definition of what "political correctness" actually *is* is unknown the question is impossible to answer.
Sandra: As for the baa baa black sheep, three little pigs and the blackboard thing, yes I agree with you, that's daft and that sort of thing does more damage than good.
As for arresting muslims... I have yet to seen a case where there has been a lack of doing so. In fact I've seen plenty of cases where muslims have been arrested, deported or jailed and have had their assets confiscated on flimsy or non-existant evidence simply because they were muslim.
As for the black/white african-american/caucasian I'm pretty indifferent - I'm of the opinion that one should call people what they prefer to be called and really, most people I've met don't have much of a problem with any of those words.
As for women "making a big deal" of wanting to be called Ms? Well. The whole point of differing between Miss and Mrs is to show wether a woman is married or not. Men on the other hand is always Mr, married or bachelor. Why should there be a difference? Why is it important to know if a woman is married but not if a man is? It's an absurd tradition and we should be well rid of it.
As for "There's more important things to think about in the world."? Words have meaning. The way one uses words affects the way people think. Words have consequences.
I remember when black comedians like Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor talked about theirs and others races as part of their acts. Nobody was hurt and everyone had a good laugh. Now days they'd be crucified for it.
