Tell them what happened and you might as well have to pay for it.
As soon as you pay to replace the book it won't affect your library record. It happens to everyone at least once, librarians understand that, especially when it's your first time. One thing you could ask is if they would let you replace the book personally. Some libraries, especially smaller or school libraries, will let you come up with your own good condition used book in lieu of paying for replacement. This option will cost you a little time, but will likely end up costing you less money. You can find lots of used books by looking on ABE (http://www.abebooks.com/) or Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/). It's worth asking.
Hope that helps. Cheers.
well i would tell the truth and go and be honest and it is not your fault ok and also they may be understanding in that way anyway i know it is not easy to open up in that way but you will gain more respect for that and i am sure that the library will understand and you may only have to pay a small amount but that is going to be better to do that than lie and worry about it more and more and i would do that as soon as possible hope you get things sorted and sorry to hear of that good luck ok
Since the book was stolen on school property and in full view of a government employee paid to prevent such thefts, there is a good chance the library will spot you one theft, if you endure their lecture that you carried all that stuff into the classroom, and you should have carried it all to the restroom to protect it yourself.
Nothing will happen.
If you can't find it, go to the library and pay for it.
They won't bite your head off. It just happens sometimes and as soon as you pay for it, your record is clear.
Just tell them and pay for the replacement book. They will be pleased with your honesty...
It wont affect your card, but you'll have to pay for it or they'll charge you late fees
Fess up and PAY UP.....
