Im looking at buying a 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback but the seller said it needs the main computer to enable it to run, What is the specific name for it? And how much does it cost? Any ideas as to where I can buy one?

Yes its called an ECU,
its OBD 0, since its 88-91,
depending on your trim level it depends which ECU you need.
PM5 : 88-91 Civic DX
PM6 : 88-91 Civic SOHC Si
so if you have a DX (base) you need a PM5 ecu, to be stock.
All Honda ECUs have a part number which is located on the side of the ECU and inside the ECU on the connector. e.g. 37820-PM5-A01
The part number consists of three components:
* Honda's part number for ECU, which is always 37820
* Three characters (which are loosely related to the model of car/engine). e.g PM5
* Three characters (which are the revision of the ECU) e.g. A01 or G52
The middle three characters are the most useful to identify what the ECU is.
The last 3 characters are broken down into 3 parts. "A" generally is used for US ECUs. "G" is European, and "J" is Japanese. There are other versions of this, but you get the idea. The second digit "0" typically means manual transmission, where a "5" means automatic transmission, and the last digit "1" is the version number.
so US ECU would be A01 (manual) A51 (automatic) <---this is important or else you will always have a check engine light on.
Could be moisture on the plug wires causing it to dampen out the spark or short out completely. Generally replacing the wires can solve the problem. A garage can test the resistance of the wires before replacing then so you do not waste money on the wrong thing. Also could be moisture on the ignition system.
Some call it the ecu or ecm.
Can find on ebay or at a wrecking yard.
$50 & up .
