i already received my schedule and i'm starting school in two days. during the summer, my algebra&science teacher recommended me to honors English, HOWEVER I didn't know of this. When the school sent me papers on what book to read to be qualified, I thought it was just an optional thing and that all freshmans received letters like that. After getting my schedule, im afraid of what is going to happen in my english class because I may be the only student who hasnt read the book =x. What do you think the teacher will do? Will I be able to stay because i was recommended?
Update:no i cant finish that book in just 2 days, including essays & notes.

Go get the book and start reading, check the library or buy it, Honors English is a good opportunity and will look good on your record if you want to go to college. Go get the book, now!!!!!
Never be afraid of whatever. If you want to stay in the honors English class, go get the book, read the questions and read the book with answering the questions in mind. You will only know what the teacher will do, when you meet the teacher. If you don't care one way or the other about staying in honors English, look for an alternative class. I would recommend staying in the class and though you may have a rocky start, you can certainly have a brilliant ending. My guess is that there will be some in the class other than you who also haven't completed the book, they may have only read the first half, or the first and last of it. Many students even in honors English take short cuts. I wouldn't recommend that but there ya go. Never fear, you will be fine no matter what. If you want to read a book that may give you a new perspective, read "What is What" by David Eggers. You will breathe easy after that. Be your own hero.
Most likely you will review the book sometime during the school year. Was any assignment attached with the reccomended reading list? If not, you wont really miss out on much. Go to cliffnotes.com and find the book you were assigned. Review the plot, characters, etc. If there was an assignment, it will most likely NOT be do on the first day. Just work your butt of if there is an assignement though...Good luck in HS!
I don't know what your teachers will do. But whatever class that you are in, it is always good to do your best. If you feel honors class is for you, then admit it and tell your teachers that you are and maybe if possible, the teacher will put you in honors class. If you feel that you shouldn't be in honor classes, then don't feel bad about it. It is much better to get an A in a regular english class than to get an F in honor english. You get what you deserve and you are who you are. Please don't feel bad that you can't climb to the top.
just start reading it now
your english teacher wont give you an assigment on the book the fisrt day of school. besides real school doesnt start untill about the third or fourth day.
you still have some time to read the book
Can't you jsut read the book now and finish the homework?
