How can I compress a Picture?

How can I compress a Picture. Now it has to be 256kb or smaller. It's 684 kb atm. It's a Picture that I made for my Youtube BG. And don't say Paint! That's a BS Program.

The thing is it destroys the picture quality. That's why.

Right Click on the picture and select Open With.. then open your picutre in Microsoft Office Picture Manager..

Once the picture is opened.. press Ctrl+F1 key on the keyboard.. this will open the Task Pane on right hand side...

Now, Under Edit, select "Edit Pictures"

Then, under Change Picture Size, select "Compress Pictures"

Now, there are four options :

1- Don't Compress

2- Documents

3- Web Pages

4- Email Messages

Now select any of these options that best suits your requirement and save the picture using "SAVE AS" option so that you do not loose the original copy as you might need it if you don't like the compressed picutre's quality.

I'm wondering why you don't want to use Paint. It can actually do what you want. It can Change the size of the image so the file size will also be smaller. It's very straightforward.
