the 2 pounds you lost may have just been water weight. Most people's weight fluctuates a pound or two in any given week. Dont listen to the first person who answered! The fact that you are even asking about this means you are ready to make some changes.
Eat less calories and get more physical activity. Start small and drink a lot of water--it has no calories and helps curb your appetite. Also, portion small healthy snacks into ziplock bags to munch on throughout the day--will help prevent binging when you have your actual meals.
Dont watch the #s on the scale. Just FEEL the difference. You will start to have more energy and want to spend your time doing more physical things. This is such a beautiful time of year, try to go for a walk every day after school. Eventually, you may run or bike or skate. But start with baby steps.
Don't give up and don't get discouraged. Before you know it, your pants will be falling off of you and you will have to go shopping :-)
Good luck and try having a friend join you (if not a friend, then maybe your mom or sibling). Accountability helps.
I know you can do it and good for you for wanting to!

First off - you're 12. You should not be so worried about it. If you are so concerned about your health - talk to your parents and a doctor. Since you are so young, you really dont want to do anything harm yourself - you are still developing.
The natural “diet”: Eat, drink, and be merry
Eat smart – well-balanced meals, cut out any unnecessary calories (snacking just because), eat when you are hungry (grumbling stomach, hunger pains) and only eat until you are satisfied (not a bite more), 5-6 smaller meals is better than 3 larger ones. Also, stop eating 2-3 hours before bed – you should be slightly hungry at bed time
Drink plenty of water, not only to stay hydrated, but its important for weight loss, including helping the muscles tone and suppressing hungry. (Tip – the lighter your urine the more hydrated you are.)
Be merry – in other words exercise, not only is it needed for weight loss, it releases chemicals in your brain and makes you more happy (some of it is addicting which is known to a lot as “runner’s high”). 30 minutes of cardio is recommended daily, and a good work out program uses cardio and weight training (even if it’s just toning – light weights, more reps). Do something you enjoy and it will be easier to stick it out.
Since you are still young make sure you are eating enough - sometimes if you cut back too much on food all of a sudden your body will try to defend itself and go on "starvation" mode which will actuall cause you to gain weight.
My advice for you is to increase your fiber intake and get lots of fresh fruit and veggies (avoid can products) Also make sure you get plenty of water - that will help you. Make sure you eat protien and iron your body is still devloping and you want to make sure you are not depriving your body of essential nutrients.
It's great to see that you are setting a resonable goal - 2 pounds a week is a safe way to do it - remember it took you time to gain weight so it will take you time to lose weight.
Make sure you get plenty of cardio - anything to get your heart pumping for a good 45 mins / 3-4 times a week.
Since you are 12 you should be able to get your friends to play some type of sport with you - Basketball, tennis, soccer - pick a sport where you are running 95% of the time.
Make it fun - otherwise you will get bored and lose interest. Take this oppertunity to learn a new sport.

well of course as u may kno....peoples bodys are different... but what worked for me was counting my calories...you would probably wanna have uhmm.....16 or 1700 calories a day... i kno thats not....but divide them...you have 3 meals a day....have like 500 calories for each meal... and you will have a couple hundred calories left for a treat....there are a lot of things with little or no calories like Diet Sodas. Water obviously, Pickles have no calories...neither does mustard...oh and the Jell-o Pudding. Gelatin packs only have 100 calories....and there are thes 100 calorie packs....just look around the grocery store... Slim fast has 220 calories a meal...and the meals are very filling.... so expirement... BTW celery has negative calories...u burn more calories chewing it than it actually has.....
Oh yeah and do 30 Minute activities everyday...you dont have to strain urself....things like a walk in the park...whatever you like to do...you can dance if you want to....but you dont HAVE to run and do a million sit ups and stuff like that as long as ur moving..... Uhmmm hey if you have any questions my emails are [email protected] and [email protected]
GL it worked for me hopefully it works for you....

First, your age has nothing whatsoever to do with your weight. This is about your height and your weight, and that's just to begin with.
Further, an acceptable and healthy rate of weight loss is 1 - 2 pounds/week.
Talk with your school nurse or your family doctor and ask for help. That's the only way that you will find out how to lose weight healthfully, how to keep it off, and how much you should try to lose. That's about being responsible for your self and your actions. It sounds very much as though you're trying to do just that, and I commend you for it, but there are some things about which we all need some help, and this is one of those things.
Hi - I'm a certified Personal Trainer and think I can give you some pointers.
1) Calories in vs calories out. This means that you need to either eat less or have more activity in your life or both. To lose one pound a week you need to either eat less of or burn off 3500 calories. Breaking this down daily is 500 calories. I would suggest making small changes to your diet (I'll discuss more of that below) to be 250 calories LOWER and burn off 250 calories in activity.
2) It's never safe or healthy to lose more than two pounds/week. Since you are overweight, you will see a lot of weight fall off the first few weeks but don't get used to it. It will even out to one to two pounds a week as you get closer to your ideal weight.
3) Please do NOT take any diet supplements or anything of the kind. You're too young and you'll really screw up your body.
4) Diet is more important than your weight. It's essential to fuel your body with good, proper nutrition than junk.
5) Stay away from anything that says "diet" in the label. Look around at all of the people drinking or eating something "diet" and you'll see that they aren't slim.
6) Stay away from any artificial sweeteners (Equal, NutraSweet, Splenda, etc.) because it's toxic to your body. Try to stay away from any kind of sugar, for that matter. Instead, try stevia. It is an all natural sweetener and has zero calories. You can find it in almost any natural food section of any grocery.
7) Eat more veggies and fruits in their natural form (preferably organic)
8) This is important...All of your protein (including milk and cheese) needs to be organic, free of growth hormones and other antibiotics . These growth hormones will make your body develop at a faster rate as well as put additional pounds on you and poison your system. Try to eat more lean protein (i.e. chicken, ground turkey, fish etc.).
9) Stay away from processed foods. This includes fast food restaurants. All of their food is pre-made and/or processed any nutritional value out of the item.
There's a lot more to share but I don't want to overwhelm you. You may want to either hire a Personal Trainer or talk to your gym teacher at school. Both can show you proper exercise form and exercises to do, ideally, five times a week.
Because of you age, I am going to suggest you see a nutritionist. But the most important thing is to watch the amount of food you eat as well as what kind of food you eat. You should be eating things liked baked and grilled poultry, fish, and other meats. Keep the sweets to a minimum. Eat veggies and fruits, mostly veggies.
And exercise. Go walking, hiking, swimming, or join a sports team.
Hi,
How much do you excercise?? If you watch what you eat and walk maybe once a day if you can for about 2-3 miles who should see yourself lose more. I wish you luck!!
Weight Watchers is a great plan! I have averaged about 3 pounds a week for 15 weeks, so far!!!
Talk to your parents and see if there is a program in your area.
And, don't starve yourself! It's not worth it!!!
walk at least 30 minutes a day at moderate/fast pace (mix in a bit of running/jogging when able and ready)
eat fruits, veggies
calorie intake should be around 1500 a day
stay away from carbs (pasta, breads, etc)
