Because the population is growing and kids rage a lot. That's why games don't have much of a challenge anymore.
The reason being that all of the games are "not fun anymore" is because they are starting to go with a more serious, emotional story line rather than one that makes you laugh so hard you begin to cry. A true gamer doesn't care whether a game is "fun" or not, it just matters on whether or not the game is worth playing. Fun and good are two different things, and whether you like your video games turning into a more cinematic play style or not you're going to end up disappointed. Many games are running away from fun to exciting and emotional. A lot of people, including myself, like emotional games a lot more than the games in the past.
Or you might just be getting older and more "mature", in which you feel like a child for still playing your video games. Many go through that faze, but I'm sure you'll eventually get over it. If not, good luck with your "adult" life.
I know what you mean, when I first got into computers (in the early eighties) it was all very exciting as they started to have things like graphics, colour and sound. This made 2D gaming more exciting, but by the mid nineties although the graphics were good these 2D games had become very formulaic and samey. Then came 3D graphics, crude at first but improving over time. This made possible a whole new way of gaming, but now nearly 20 years later the same thing has happened, the games are all getting too similar and new gaming concepts are thin on the ground.
I feel the exact same way. Video games don't provide the same euphoria they used to. They are easier, shorter, and less rewarding. Electronics and gaming systems are advancing, which means there are easier ways to make video games look more appealing to younger crowds by delivering realistic graphics to provide a simulation experience. This is just a huge marketing campaign by game developers to expand their customer base. The older crowd of gamers, like you and I however, notice that the challenge to beat a video game has been lost because of this. Most game publishers mainly focus on graphics when they should really put the story first.
Nostalgia and make things that were just ok be the most amazing thing ever. Also, as a kid you're imagination was a lot better so you might have thought the game was actually happening before your eyes and you got WAY more immersed.
well for me it's fun but going to arcade back then was way more fun seeing many challengers especially if one guy took em out good times
