Hey there !
Im having a minor problem over here ! I've just converted an avi file into a few dvd files using winavi. After the conversion i get a few files such as BUP,IFO & VOB . How do i actually bring them into a dvd? Should i just copy all the files and burn them as a data dvd ? Or there are only a few files that needs to be in the dvd? Mind to help me on this please. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated !

A DVD(Digital Video Disk) has a strict file structure. This is done in order for it to work with as many readers as possible so you cant just drag and drop your files onto a blank disk. First you have to create two folders: AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS and then move the files that winavi reated to the video_ts folder. Then write those two folders (both even though the audio_ts one is a blank) to the DVD blank.
A more technical analisys of the file structure is:
AUDIO_TS
VIDEO_TSVIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFOThe first video item, IFO, usally the copyright notice or main menu
VIDEO_TS.VOBThe first video play item, VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFOTitle 01, IFO, usually the main movie
VTS_01_0.VOBTitle 01, VOB 0, the menu for this title
VTS_01_1.VOBTitle 01, VOB 1, the video for this title
VTS_01_2.VOBTitle 01, VOB 2, if larger than 1 GB it will be splitted into several vobs
VTS_01_3.VOBTitle 01, VOB 3
VTS_01_4.VOBTitle 01, VOB 4, up to 10(0-9) VOB files if necassary
VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_0.IFOTitle 02, IFO, usually the extras
VTS_02_0.VOBTitle 02, VOB 0, the menu for this title
VTS_02_1.VOBTitle 02, VOB 1, the video for this title
... and so on and so forth
VTS_99_9.VOBUp to 99(1-99) titles with max 10(0-9) VOB files each
Let me know if you need more help :D
open nero express if you have nero v7. choose video files option, then dvd video. from there you just add the folder that contains your .bup .ifo and .vob files you should be able to burn the files onto dvd-r as long as it fits onto the disk.
In Nero when you choose to burn a DVD, choose the "DVD-Video" option. The window ill list a "video_ts" and "audio_ts" folder, all you must do now is copy all of you BUP, IFO & VOB to the "video_ts" folder in Nero and click 'burn' to burn your disc.
i think u should use a burning suite specifically made for dvd's like nero or toast. This Burns files onto dvd immediately without the fuss or waste of time. i hoped i helped.
