I just got a new laptop so I don't need my old computer, and my mom's computer has been getting pretty slow lately so she wants to start using my computer. She needs to transfer the files on her hard drive to my computer, and I probably won't need most of my data and files on my computer, but I'd like to keep them if it doesn't take up too much space. I don't want to do anything that requires opening up the computer and putting in a hard drive, so what's the best/cheapest way to transfer our files?

Get an external hard-drive.
You can get a 1 TB (1024 GB) external hard-drive for about 100 bucks. You might not need that much
You don't need to open up your computer or anything, plug the USB cord in and you're all set
You can get a thumb drive- about 8GB for 20$ USD, and just transfer the files on the old computer onto it, and then plug it into the laptop, and put the files on it, and repeat. Depending on how much stuff you need to transfer, this could get repetitive, but with about 8GB a pass, it shouldn't take too long :).
You should get an external hard drive. That way you can save whatever files from the old computer onto it and really never have to store them on your laptop. If you ever want to access the files simply plug in the external hard drive to your laptop.
go pick up cheap usb hard drive. transfer the files onto that then disconnect from your old computer. transfer those onto your new computer and you should be set. no need to pull **** apart, and it's pretty cheap if you buy a used memory unit.
