You come from a poor family so cannot afford everything. You have some of the uniform, and most of the books.
You could also include the reason for the uniform etc. They argue it makes for equality, no one better dressed than another; it also creates a gulf between the those who have uniforms and those who do not. This is exacerbated by teachers meting out punishment to those out of uniform.
