so i was interested in buying this laptop from ebay a dell latitude d800 the price is around $240 dollars it comes with 1GB ram and a 40GB hard drive. in the listing it states that it has a 1.7GHZ Pentium m processor in it and they also offer upgrades on the processor to a 2.0 GHZ Pentium m for 30 dollars. so my question is the extra .3 GHZ worth it? and they also have this chart that compares the Pentium m to a Pentium 4 along with a brief description of the processor.

Higher the ghz , the faster the speed of computer in performing tasks.
Actually, what the other person said is not completely accurate.
The Centrino's are far better than the Pentiums in my opinion.
I would definitely upgrade the the 2.0 GHz, every last bit there does help, but it's not the only factor.
Recently I 'upgraded' from a 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo with a 1333MHz FSB (Front Side Bus) with a 4MB L2 Cache to a 2.8GHz C2D w/1300 FSB and a 3MB L2 Cache and the 2.8 seems far more sluggish.
The FSB is extremely important because its generally what drives the speed of the processor. Another factor is the Memory. If you have a 500MHz memory chip and your processor has a 1300FSB, the computer will slow way down and run at 500MHz because that's all the RAM (memory) can handle.
It's not so much of a black and white deal.
