Drop them (potato, potato & cheese, sauerkraut) in simmering water for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile in large frying pan you melt some butter (margarine if you don't have any) and some some chopped onions (frozen kind are OK). Fry the onions at a low temp until they are translucent, using a slotted spoon place the pierogies in the frying pan. Carefully cook them and flip them over once when they are just a touch yellow brown. Serve with the butter & onions on them.
I boil them first in a pan with salted water till they rise to the top, take them out and drain them and then i use a skillet with a tablespoon of margarine or u can use canned butter spray if u want, and i add some dried parsely to the pan and then i sautee them for about 5 mins on each side till golden brown but not burnt...

Boil then drain and fry in butter ntil crispy. Then top with justa touche more butter and salt,,,mmmmmmmmmm
i boil them first just until the float to the top of the pot. then i fry them in a pan full of butter just until they are brown. that's it.
