Confidence, believe it or not, takes practice. At first you have to force yourself to feel confident and then eventually you will just be confident and no longer have to force yourself. This will make you a lot more outgoing and beautiful, at least on the inside.
In terms feeling physically ugly, I'm sure you're not ugly. But when people say you should just accept the way you are, I think they're full of crap. There is absolutely nothing wrong with changing what you don't like about yourself (unless it's something crazy like wanting to get a rib removed). If you wanna lose weight, go for it. If you don't like your hair color, dye it. You only live once and you should never be forced to settle. If you hate your nose, save your money and get plastic surgery. There's nothing wrong with it as long as it's what you want. So whatever makes you feel ugly, change it.
The less self conscious you are, the less self you will have to worry about, and the less you worry, the more confident you will be.
It isn't an 'easy' solution, but it is simple - whenever you think "I am ugly", notice the thought. Then let it go. Just control them, don't let your thinking control you.
