how do you hook up an external monitor to a laptop?
i have a s-video cord hooked from the computer to a monitor... but nothing is happening, how do I send the signal to the monitor

Simple! Look at the rear of your laptop there should be a place to attach the monitor cable, it looks just like the one on a desktop PC... just as there is a place to hook up a regular mouse . S-Video stands for SUPER VIDEO...mainly used for watching only...just like the one on the rear of your TV or DVD player.
