In Excel, I have to indicate how much was spent for clothing in March. The information was already included in the table and I think I need a formula to put in so that the number is highlighted or bolded or somehow stands out. Can someone please tell me what to do?? I tried conditional formatting and keep getting stuck

There are 2 Easy Solutions of your Query:
1. Calculate the Total of your Expenses on Clothing
Suppose Column A has the Type of Expense
and Column B has the Amount Expended.
Use Formula:
=SUMIF(B:B,"Clothing",A:A)
2. Use Conditional Formatting (Explaining using Excel 2010)
Select Cell B1
Press Alt + O followed by D
Click on New Rule
Select the Last Most Option "Use a formula to determine............"
Now Copy and Paste the Line into the box provided
=A1="Clothing"
Click on Format Button and set your Desired format and Click Ok
Click OK Again
Now Under Applies to Type
B:B
and Press Apply
All the Cells of Column B will be highlighted with your desired format where all corresponding Cells in Column A equals Clothing.
Hope this will help you
