(If you don't mind me saying), your BMI is around 22.3, which is at a normal, healthy weight, although I know that some girls might not be so comfortable with this BMI. SOOO....
You have to know what you are consuming which causes fat to build up in the body. Carbohydrates, when digested, turns into energy which is distributed around the body. If the energy is not used up, then it is stored as fat. So what you want to do is cut down on carbs, but only by a little bit, because you still need energy and no carbs is bad for you in the long run. Carbs are in rice, bread, pasta, noodles, potatoes... all the starchy food. If you substitute white bread/rice with brown bread/rice, there is less starch (less carbs) and more fiber, which speeds up metabolism.
When eating meals, eat 5 smaller, healthy meals a day with plenty of fruits and vegetables. The body will get used to receiving food regularly, so it speeds up digestion rate and you don't absorb as much carbs. However, you also don't absorb as much of the nutrients, which is why you need all the fruit and veges you can get. But don't overeat.
Try to cut back on processed food, which is mainly junk food. If you crave something to eat, then eat a piece of fruit. Substitute soda with milk or water.
Eat protein to build up muscles. Protein is found in meat, eggs and nuts (when I say nuts, I do NOT mean peanut butter or those roasted ones with honey or salt. Just nuts.) and milk to ensure 'growing bones etc etc'. But seriously, calcium to ensure bone strength. Yoghurt is good, but not those chocolate yoghurts... the fruity ones.
Make sure you get the exercise to match... This doesn't have to be vigorous, work-out-in-the-gym-for-two-hours-a-day kind of exercise, but rather like, walking faster to and from places, or taking a brisk walk for 15-30 minutes a couple of times a week. Apparently, walking also helps to relax and calm you.
Find support! It's always good to find a group of friends to lose weight with you, and walk with you, etc. It also encourages you to keep going. Usually, weight loss is quite fast at first, then will gradually slow down.
Treat yourself once in a while, but for the first, say month or so, no junk food. Okay? And by treat, I mean one cone of ice cream, not a whole day of pigging out on junk food. Also, set yourself goals. So, say, "I want to lose 5lb". Once you've achieved this, you might say "Okay, I want to go down to 105lb". Make sure they're small goals, small steps to achieving the larger goal. If you say 'I want to go down to 100lb' straight away, it feels like it's taking forever to reach your goal, which might make you feel like it's too far away. By setting small goals, the bigger goal seems reachable.
