I have a very small dog, i have to train him to go on a puppy pad, I cant train him to go outside by himself yet hes too small to go down the stairs. I cant have him near the door because my stairs are right in front of the door, and that floor is just the stair connection. I usually goes on a puppy pad, and i spray the pad with training spray but sometimes he goes in other places. THANKS!

Take him outside to pee...He is small enough to carry...
Pee pads just add an extra step in housebreaking..sooner or later you will have to break him of that..
Since he is a small puppy he might need to go more often then if he was an adult dog. Take him to the pad about every 15 or 30 minutes to see if he has to go. Then if he goes in other places bsides on the pad show him his mistake, bring him over to the pad, and say "No!" but never hit a dog for doing that or rub their face in it. Those are very wrong things to do. If that doesn't work, say if he goes in another place you could wipe it up and place the cloth on the pad so he can get the scent of were he went and waant to go on the pad from now on since it has his scent. Hopefully this works, it did for my three dogs.
Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMwC4
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.
Get a kennel, or crate. Pick up a larger, enclosed, cat litter box and a bag od wood stove "Wood Pellets" from your local lumberyard (costs about $5-US) Fill litter box with wood pellets and place immediately outside of kennel. (Keep food and water in kennel area) Wrap the two, together, so the dog can move them apart. Can also do this with two large boxes, if you wish.
Idea is simple. No animal will 'willing' soil, its own nesting area, unless it's already been forced to do so and become used to it. By providing a separate area for your pup to go potty, he will learn the litter box is the place to go. Google "Misty Method" for terrific examples of how to do this.
Now, very important that you leave dog in kennel, for the majority of the time, for a couple of days. Feel free to take him out and play with him, but only for short periods of time, while constantly under your supervision.
After 2 days, double the size of the area he is allowed to have. Kitchens work great for this stage. After a day or two, double area again. Important thing is to daily change the "litter", keeping it fresh. Do NOT wash out the litter tray, simply remove the wood pellets and replace with fresh. Puppy may eat a pellet or three, even drag toys into pellet area. DO not be alarmed, he will soon figure it out and wood pellet is nothing but sawdysts pressed into pellet form. Cannot harm the pup.
Good Luck!
I am no professional, but this worked for me. I tried train my pup to a news paper. She would still go in other places so I would take her to where she peed and say firmly No No (not yelling, just firm) then take her to the paper and say this is where you go. That was not quite enough though. She still went elsewhere sometimes, so I'd do the above and then put a newspaper down where she had gone. In time she learned.
i know sometimes it might be hard to tell but when you see your dog sniffing around or anything else that he might do before he pees pick him up right away and take him to the pad. this might seem kind of odd but some dogs work better with sand boxes than pee pads plus its less messy. or you can always buy the pads that have a smell to it only dogs can smell telling them to pee there
never had luck with pads
just take outside
if so small carry him to his own back yard where no other dogs go
\keep on leash while outside
if you don't have one then you have to keep cleaning up
keep on leash in house, watch, take out
