I tried looking up videos and forums and stuff but all anyone talks about is how to use it or start it up. I want to know, how does the air get in the compressor? Do you go get it filled? Does it suck in air and hold it? How do you get air in there and, does it run out? I know that sounds like a stupid question but hey, it might just work that way. Does it gain air as you are using it? Someone explain please!! By the way, I want to use it for airbrushing.

I have a simplified explanation, When the motor is started, it operates an air pump. The pump sucks in air and compresses it, then releases the air into the holding tank. After a few cycles of the pump, the holding tank is filled with compressed air, it could be 1 pound or 50 pounds, however it is set up, I would think for airbrushing it would be a fairly low pressure set by the pump company, you can control some air pressure with your spray gun, for more or less pressure. As you are using the compressed air, the pressure gauge will drop, the pump will come back on and continue to fill your tank, without interrupting your painting.
