Hola. They are very close to each other about 20-25 minute drive along the corridor highway (4 lane freeway). Always keep to the right to let the faster traffic go by. Extremely easy to navigate and as you get closer into the town of CSL you will see that the highway suddenly has sidestreet lanes (2) on either side. The reason for the 2 lane sidestreet is to ease you off the freeway and allows you to make a turn, without stopping on the freeway of course. Some people find that weird but it works.
Remember all the signs are in Spanish, and we also go by KM's here, not miles. There are two Pemexs (gas stations) on this highway one closer to SJD and one closer to CSL.
Go on this website www.loscabosguide.com and check out the maps....you will see how easy the 4 lane highway connects the two towns.
They are pretty close (approx 25 miles) and there is a very good road between them. The airport is north of San Jose del Cabo.
You can't use dollars or credit cards at the gas stations. Get some pesos from the ATM at the airport (it's safe). It is customary to give the man who pumps your gas a small tip.
It is a good idea to rent a car. Many gringos are afraid to drive and consequently spend a lot of money on taxis. Be careful about drinking. There are a lot of nice places to eat in San Jose.
