depends on the $$ if they want more than $500 <no>
The processor is a lowline processor, memory could be larger.
You will need at least an hour to remove the 47 trial softwares that run out in 14 days like "antivirus". then it might be worth the money. I like dell but they build bulk product and that makes for lower cost on parts which means lower quality parts.
It's an outstanding computer, however with 512 MB of RAM you'll need to stick with Windows XP instead of Vista. It will run VERY slow under 1GB of RAM.
Personally, I've heard of alot of peoblems with Vista, so don't get it for awhile anyway...companies haven't created drivers for it, printers, monitors, other peripherals, etc. Also, I've heard of alot of networking issues and it won't work with alot of companies VPN networks.
for how much? btw, dont get a dell cuz most of my friends said they'd use cheap parts. idk,but i got a thinkpad T7200,14.1' sxga,1gb ram,100 gb HDD,bluetooth, wifi, wwan, fingerprint reader, ati graphic, dvd drive. for 1050 3 wks ago on ebay. anywho, if ur dell is under a 100 than get it, but i would recommend a thinkpad.

Fine for surfing the internet, downloading and listening to music, working with Office, etc.
For gaming & heavy video use (editing, etc) you will want a stronger prcoessor and more memory etc - 1gb ram + AMD Athlon64.
Good luck.

For a low budget laptop, that's the way to go. If you're going with Vista though, it will run horrentiously slow.
Those are very weak processors, 1.6GHZ on one of those is not like 1.6GHZ on a C2D or an Athlon64.

Dell computers are not good for anything. Toshiba laptops are.
