Like everything else, it will last until it fails, just like Intel or other processors. Nothing lasts forever.
However, I have used AMD processors almost daily for many years without any problems. Like the EveReady bunny, they just keep going and going, and I am a gamer. It is usually my desire to upgrade to newer technology that leads me to replacing one rather than one failing. In fact, I still have some old ones that I retained after upgrading --- just in case. I really need to clean out all that old stuff and either donate or recycle them.
It will last far beyond the time when it has become completely obsolete. Other parts of the computer will fail long before the CPU does, the hard drive would probably go first.
It could last years, most hardware is designed to last about 10 years.
CPUs are generally pretty reliable so long as you don't overheat them. My experience has shown that if they survive the first few days out of the box they usually wont ever cause a problem.
I've got a few AMD 3000+ CPU's that have lasted 4 years already. If you don't overclock them, & keep them cool with a good heatsink, they last at least for 6 yrs. or more.

No reason why it wouldn't last a lifetime...that said, things do fail but on your CPU it won't fail through over use!

barring any electrical surges that fry the processor, you'll upgrade your entire PC before the processor goes bad.
long time... 6 years+
