I am using a small weber grill with about a square foot cooking surface. Which brands or types of charcoal should I use to provide an hour worth of cook time?
Just get a Charcoal chimney. You never have to use lighter fluid and get the crappy taste from it again! It also heats your coals quicker, and prolongs your coal usagege! You will get lots more bang from your buck on the coals, and the fluid. The chimney is a one time buy for about 12 bucks, They are great!
if you buy a small bag more or less likely you will use ALL of the bag. if you buy the big bag ( which is basicly 2 small bags ) it will last for 2 uses. really you only need a small bag.
DO NOT.. buy the charcoal that says ( instant light ) or something like it doesnt need lighter fluid. those ARE.. instantly lightable BUT...!!! they dont last very long i have bought them used them and they died super fast it was ridiculous.
DO NOT.. use lighter fluid to cook on a grill. NEVER use lighter fluid. if anything buy a propain grill next time.
to heat up the grill i will help you step by step.
step 1. clean the grill ( if dirty )
step 2. heat the charcoal to do so properlly.. buy this thing in the link http://yjmingcheng.com/index.php/list-16-1.html basicly you put it on the grill put newspaper under the bottom of it ( the thing in the link ) then put the charcoal on the top of the newspaper in the thingy and light from the slots in the bottom. let it heat up till coals are white. then lift the grill and dump it in and put the grill back on. SPREAD COALS OUT EVENLY..
step 3. grease the grill with oil so the food doesnt stick to it.

their is a way to heat up the coals without the thing i linked. basicly you lift up the grill then put lots of newspaper inside the bottom then you put the grill back on and pour charcoal on the grill and stack it into a pyramid in the middle then light the newspaper. this will heat up the charchoal then u just dump it in after ive been doing this method for years
PS- dont use the magazines from the newspapers just the actual news paper itself.
if you put coal in plastic wrap and then the freezer it should keep for at least 11teeen time. Eating it is pleasant, invite the Zombie neighbors over too.
