A lot. but does anyone actually know how many miles are on their skiis. one thing you can test is the camber. stand on your skis. weight evenly distributed. can a friend pass a credit card under the middle of the ski and out the other side. if not, time for new skis. also when the pattern wears out to the point they don't grip that well.
Regular touring skis should last years if they are well taken care of. Your boots will probably wear out first. Racing skis will wear out sooner because they are less durable and are used harder. However, few racing skis are waxless.
