I recently went to a new dr and she asked routine questions. One of them was, "How long do your periods last?" and I told her, "Seven days." After saying this she kinda freaked out, or rather surprised to hear my answer. This isn't the first time people were surprised with my answer. I've talked with friends and family members, and I know everyone's different.
Here's the thing: I'll get my period and it'll be heavy for about 2 days and the flow gradually decreases within the next 4-5 days. Bleeding completely stops usually around day 6 or 7.
So does my period really 6-7 or 2-3 days?
Thanks :)

Seven days is completely normal! Anything from 3 - 7 days can be normal, as long as it's not heavy bleeding which can cause anaemia.
I have no idea why a Doctor would be surprised with your answer, the average period lasts for 5 days and the blood flow is exactly as you describe. And yes, your period lasts for as long as you bleed - in your case, 6-7 days.
It's 6-7. Mine's the same length. That's normal I don't know why she was so surprised. It's abnormal for it to last 10 or more days.
