I'm curious about the cost of Mirena IUC contraception. I'm interested in possibly getting it, but I'm unsure of how much I'll have to pay. Does anyone know, or have experience with this contraceptive? If you're currently using it, what do you think of the results? Is it really as safe and effective as it's claimed to be?
Thanks in advance for all answers. I truly appreciate your help.

Depending on what your insurance will cover, the average cost for the Mirena is about $300-350. I've had the Mirena and only had to pay my co-pay for the doctor visit. I only had it in 6 months before removing it. Para-Guard is better, because there are no horemones (sp) in it, so if you want to concieve, you just get it removed and there is no waiting to get pregnant. Paraguard can be left in for up to 10 years, so if you decide to use it that long, you are getting your money's worth, too!!
I think I paid an additional $100.00 for this IUD because of having the other one removed. But still, it's well worth it!
I don't know how much it costs because my insurance took care of all of it but my doc told me that after the 1st year of having it in it pays for itself. The procedure was a little uncomfortable and it felt like I had menstrual cramps that day. After that for the next month I would spot every now and again but after that month I have not seen a spot of blood since. I love it and will be taking it out a year early due to the fact that I will be trying for another child but after that baby is born that will be my birth control again without question. I love it and would recommend it to anyone! I have the contraceptive that has the hormones in it that's why I don't get my period.
