You can go as often as the court agrees to dismiss a citation on the basis of traffic school attendance. However, only ONE such dismissal is confidential in any 18-month period, and a lot of courts will not agree to a traffic school dismissal more often than that. Dismissals which are not confidential will show on your DMV record and will be considered by your insurance company in setting rates. There is no financial benefit to traffic school in such a case, since you will pay more to go to traffic school, and not avoid insurance consequences. There can be a benefit to somebody who needs to avoid DMV points, however.
"Opting to take the course may cost the violator anywhere from slightly less than the fine for the violation to significantly more, but successful completion will usually either completely remove, or significantly reduce, the violation's effect on the violator's driving record, which in turn will at least reduce the violation's effect on the violator's insurance premiums. Typically, a traffic violator will be offered the opportunity to take such a course only if he or she has not done so within a specified number of months prior to the violation [1]; this keeps frequent violators from abusing the system to avoid the consequences of their recklessness, while encouraging participants to pay attention, and to put what they learn into practice." quote
once every 18 months in order for a ticket to not to show on your record, we used to be able to go twice a year, but only the first one counted for your record, the second counted for insurance purposes.
