depends on the puerto rican, im puerto rican and i only speak english, i cant speak spanish really. My dads first language was Spanish but now he prefers speaking English only unless hes speaking to his parents or really has to speak spanish. my mom doesnt know spanish at all. i actually know more than my mother my grandmother cannot speak English at all. my grandfather can speak English but its very broken. So it depends on the puerto rican basically and how there brought up. like i said i cant really speak spanish but when i have to like speaking to my grandmother i try its very bad but she gets it.
It depends where they live. i am puerto rican. I use english all the time and only say a few words in spanish. My dad (puerto rican) spoke Spanish almost all the time cause he grew up in puerto rico. But i was born in new jersey, so i spoke english. It all depends on the persons location and the person themselves, like their preferences. This goes for any other language and ethnicity as well.
Me? Every day at work (I'm a consultant in the pharmaceutical industry). Also, I use a lot of english when surfing the internet or watching cable TV (also every day activities for me).
