Your SATA port is for an external hard drive. If you don't have an HDMI port on your laptop and you have DVI port, you can get an adapter that will make it HDMI or you can get a HDMI to DVI cable. Look online for a cable monoprice.com is a favorite of mine. They shouldn't cost very much.
So either
DVI to HDMI Adapter for computer
or
Cable with an HDMI on one end, and DVI on the other.
If your laptop only has VGA, then I don't think you can do it. Might be able to find a VGA to DVI adapter then go from there.
okay SATA is not it at all. LOL that is an ESATA slot that is used to run external sata Harddrives. You will need to locate an output on your laptop. wether it be SVGA, HDMI,DVI (most likely if it is newer),svideo(most likely if it is old) then you will need a to find out if the dlp supports it. hdmi is a pentagon shape, DVI are white and have a big horizontal pin, svga has 15 pins in three rows, and svideo is circular and has four pins. Look for those on your laptop and tv. They make dvi to vga adapters that you can plug into the dvi socket on your tv and run a vga (15 pin cable) to your laptop.
Those are your options.
No. Your HDMI port on your laptop is an output, not an input. Your TV's HDMI port is an input, not an output Investigate SlingBox, and USB TV tuners..
