don't crash diet or starve yourself. it will slow down your metabolism and make you gain the weight back later. the best thing you can do for yourself is buy a food scale at walmart or target, then measure correct portions of food. eat a normal diet, but everything should be a real portion size. you'd be surprised at how many calories you'll cut out by not eating too big portions. do the fruit, veggies, and whole grains thing. cut out sugar, soda, fruit juice, and white flour. eat brown rice instead of white. eat sliced fruit instead of sweets and sliced veggies instead of chips. drink lots of water and unsweetened tea.
aim for 1200 to 1500 calories a day, and get plenty of exercise.
