I was given a laptop from a friend and I want to return it to its original setup, however I don't have any windows install disks. I have removed users and setup new ones but that doesn't remove all the software that was installed.
It's an Acer with Windows Vista.

Check out this link. It should give you all the information you need. The process is called System Restore and it will "reset" your laptop to an earlier time; maybe even to it's original settings.

The below link will give you instructions for "resetting" your laptop to it's factory original condition. Keep in mind you will need to backup everything and make windows recovery disks just in case the process goes awry. Keep in mind, a recovery disk is NOT a boot disk.

The only other solution would be to buy a oem copy of vista or windows 7 and install it yourself on the laptop. Don't buy it through a store like staples or officedepot.
If you access system restore than you can restore the system to an earlier date. You can find this by searching "system restore" in your start menu. Depending on how old the laptop is, you may be able to restore it all the way back to it's factory settings.
