I hunt a variety of animals, all of which are feral in the country I live in. I really don't care if you berate me about being a cruel bastard but I would just like to know what peoples opinions are on the ethical differences between hunting native animals and hunting introduced species which damage the environment.

You’re doing nature a favor as well as hunters, land owners and the list goes on. Ferial and non-native species can cause all sorts of damage and have in some cases have wiped out some local species like ferial cats in Australia have. So go for it!
I disagree with casey b. I have never known of a trophy hunter to leave a game animal to rot, in fact that’s illegal to do so. Granted there are slobs that just shoot game animals for the hell of it, but those are not hunters by any stretch of the imagination.
Another thing is what would one do with a mangy summer shot coyote, ferial cat, ferial dog, etc? Eat it? Lol There are times when some animals have to be reduced and there just isn’t any use for the pelt, meat etc. If I see a ferial dog running moose calves here in Alaska I shoot it and leave it for the scavengers who by the way make short work of it!
Here is an answer from someone who takes pride in having no fear of being politically incorrect. My position is that if the animal is not endangered, and especially if it does damage to crops, landscaping, etc., and you get pleasure from hunting it, and there is no law that you are violating, go for it. There will always be some whiney assed, limp wristed, bunny hugging Hollywood type out there who will berate you. When they do, just ask yourself "How much do I really care about this A__ H___'s opinion?" and then go on hunting.
First I gotta' say sometimes you can't eat what you kill, I'll eat a feral coy-dog when casey eats the next roach or mouse although I agree & it is already illegal to kill game species & leave them to rot. I believe in reducing the feral population in rural areas by culling but sometimes in suburban areas it is more humane to trap live , spay & neuter , the reality of it is the real cruel people are the ones who abandon the animals in the first place. When I lived in rural Penna. we had a big problem with feral dogs & cats. the dogs would pack up in winter & run deer, dogs can run on top of deep snow deers hooves sink in. The dogs would keep up on the small herds until they "hamstrung" all of them & then leave them to freeze & starve to death. Feral cats killed young game animals constantly (grouse turkey rabbit etc.). Nobody enjoys killing these pests but the alternative is more unpleasant.
Illegal immigrants are ruining this country even in nature
Non indigenous and feral species are causing more environmental damage than anything else out there
Shoot it and feed the indigenous buzzards and worms
Well, you cruel*******, you are performing a needed service to your (and our) environment by thinning those feral animals. Here wild (and not-so-wild) dogs run deer, and we shoot every one we see. Just don't see them enough, and they cause a lot of destruction. I just hope you are a good shot, so you cause little suffering. Keep up the good work. J
personally, if your hunting a feral species that's destroying the environment, your helping to make things like before the pest got there? but if your killing the animals for sheer fun or just there for the trophy, then your wrong!
if your killing an animal to eat and what you get and take what you need, but no more or kill to survive, then I have no problem with it at all.
Yeah good work, I shoot cats all the time in my street LOL.
Seriously though, if they are feral they are fair game, its both ethical and good practice. the other alternative for departments for game control s normally poisioning which it inhumaine when compared to shooting.
If its not protected -- Its dead!
I tend to leave bobcats and other critters that are rare in my area alone.....
On the other hands, feral house-cats, wild dogs, coyote's, woodchucks, etc..... I blast those and enjoy it....
