For question 1 hurricanes originate way off in the Atlantic ocean. For question 2 the elements needed for a hurricane to form is warm sunshine on the ocean. This i how hurricanes start to form.
Tropical storms(hurricanes)begin with intense convection of water over warm seas.As the storm begins to spin, set in motion by the coriolis effect, the wind strengthens. When the wind speed reaches 120Km/hour,the storm is classified as a hurricane.A mature hurricane consists of bands of thunderstorms spiraling round a calm central area called eye.
Hurricanes form over the Atlantic ocean and north-east Pacific ocean particularly over the inter-tropical convergence zone where the tropical air of masses both hemisphere meet.
These air masses are warm and humid and have favourable lapse rates up to great heights. Therefore convection starts on a large scale developing into a hurricane.
A warm ocean surface with a temperature of atleast 26.5 degree celcius, steep lapse rate, moist layer upto suffient heights, beyond 7 degree latitude on both sides of the equator(for coriolis force to act) and a pre-existing disturbance near the surface are the required conditons for hurricane formation.Absence of a vertical wind shear is also a favourable condition.

1) Hurricanes originate in large bodies of water far away from land.
2) Hurricanes need very warm waters.
