I once read somewhere that as a last resort for him to loose weight a doctor put a morbidly obese man on an IV for nutrients and then had him not eat. And he lived like that for a year.
This could be totally bogus, but it got be thinking. If you were anorexic but you got all the protein and nutrients you needed, but an insufficient amount of calories and fat, wouldn't you be able to sustain yourself until you ran out of fat?
And no I am not anorexic nor considering anorexia. I am perfectly happy eating my tub of ice cream thank you haha

No, you wouldn't because you require ENERGY to just simply breathe and keep your organs functioning. A typical healthy human being would need around 1,200-1,500 if they were in bed all day, fast asleep so their organs wouldn't shut down.
If you think about it, it's pretty simple. We're never really doing nothing. Our lungs are always breathing, our hearts are always beating and our brains are always busy bossing our systems about. How the hell do you think all that could happen if their wasn't a source of power/energy? It's just like how our TVs need to be plugged in, and our batteries need to be recharged.
If we don't get our energy from carbohydrates/sugars, our bodies start using up our fat stores. Once it starts running out, it panics and starts burning up our muscles for energy because it has no other choice... including our organs. That would mean your body would be eating itself in order to try to survive... pretty ironic, isn't it?
I would love to know more about this as well. It sounds like it could be true, in theory.
