I'm in grade 9 ( highschool) and it seem like everyone drinks and gets drunk ( in my grade) Like today , i was sitting with the girls i sit with in class , and were always really nice to each other . They were talking about having a bush party , and bringing alcohal and not getting caught by the police. I just sat there doing my work not really saying anything. It's so not like me to do any of that stuff and i never have before , im only 14 and sometimes i feel a lot older and more mature. In my head i'm like wow i never knew they were like that. It's like everyone has got drunk before , and its totall normal. I hang out with girls who are good , and my best friend and me never do anything like that so it just seemed so uncomfortable to me.
What do you think about this? obviously it's high school and we re teenagers were expected to do that , but is it normal to just not do it , and to think its stupid? I might change my opinion later , but right now i think its stupid.

Follow your instincts. It is stupid.
I would say search out the news on a couple cases here. One was a bush/barn party/rave out in British Columbia Canada a few months ago. A girl near your age ended up drugged, raped by a bunch of guys, and a video of it all went viral around the school and world. That can never be taken back. Now that is about as bad as it could get, although there have been some killed, but you don't want to be a part of that. It is not worth it.
Talk to your parents about it all and arm yourself with good knowledge. The links may help as well as the search I noted. Always remember that you can talk to your parents about anything, even what you thought you could not.
I am proud of you for thinking of the right things. Now go talk to your parents. They will be proud of you as well.

Hey I just graduated from High School in June and I know how you feel. My advice is to not give in and ignore the peer pressure. I never went to parties or got wasted. I'm against alcohol, smoking, and drugs. Stay with your friends because you guys are normal and what teens should be. Those who get drunk at parties are the reason why teens are looked down upon. You and your friends have a good head on your shoulder and don't need alcohol. The girls at my school who got drunk at parties were called "sl*ts" and embarassed themselves. It just seems normal since a lot of people at school do it. My best advice is to not get wasted or even drink alcohol. Alcohol gets you nowhere in life. I hope this helps!
I'm 15, almost 16. I've been hearing since I started highschool about that. About how kids go and smoke weed and drink and do other drugs at parties, and how it got raided, and who hooked up with who.
Like honestly, I don't do those things. If I ever were to go to a party, I wouldn't drink, but I don't think I ever will, at least not in highschool. You aren't un-normal.
You're not un-normal, you're SMART! Congratulations!
No, it's not "weird" to not drink/party/do drugs and to think it's stupid. That's intelligence on your part.
For the record, I'm 22, I rarely (and we're talking one or two times a year) drink, no drugs, no parties, no sex. I've been that way for a long time and I cannot for the life of me see why it's so "awesome" (my brother's words) to get absolutely smashed.
No you're normal. I'm like that too. All my friends get drunk out on the weekends & party & have sex. I'm 15 and a sophomore. I sometimes feel the same way as you do but I'm not going to get myself into that ****, so I just let it be & they can do their own thing.
yeah, when I was in grade 9, I went through that realization, too. It's surprising that I'm still finding out who does and doesn't do pot, smoke cigarettes, etc. Some schools do it more than others, but, like you, my friends and I stayed away and are still staying away from it. and, in case you do want to do it in the future, think about the cons of drugs and alcohol.
-Drunk driving accidents
-Teachers or principal finding stuff in your locker
-Having to spend all that money
-Getting caught by your parents
-Losing your friends
-Harm to your health
-Doing things you'll regret while drunk
I mean, it's not that big of a deal unless you're addicted, but yeah
Your normal! They're not! When your 14, your not supposed to drink! Don't get swayed by other people. Keep on the path you are going, you'll have a better future.
nah you're not unnormal, you just have a bit more sense.
im not gonna say i didnt drink underage because i did, but not when i was only 14! and neither did anyone i know.
but even now i know people who don't drink, i dont really think anything of it and i certainly wouldn't think anything differently about them because of it.
each to their own :)
don't do anything youdon'tt want!! im in HS to and people always brag how high or drunk they get. DRUGS AND ALCOHOL MESS UP UR LIFE!! , also they kinda lead to some people getting pregnant.
Nope your normal. I'm sixteen and don't drink or hang out with people (underage) that do.
