I feel depressed almost everyday. I have basically have no reason, my parents didn't die, i don't have a stressful schedule, i wasn't abused or have a terrible childhood. But yet i still get depressed, i'm so sick of it. I've tried so many suggestions and i just can't shake it. Do you have any tips for me? What do you do to build your self-esteem and alleviate your depressed mood?..i feel so stupid for not having any major reasons to be depressed. It's irritating!

hey mate.
you are prolly depressed because you are not getting the most out of your life. i suppose you are tired of the same old routine, which bores you to comatose. it's good that you are asking for suggestions and continuing to find an excellent source of happiness for yourself. go on and try all the suggestions, maybe you'll find an activity that will actually help you overcome depression. but when it comes down to it, it's all up to YOU. it's your battle, you gotta fight it!
let me just add, you ain't a loser and you ain't stupid for feeling this way. we all have our low points, bad days, whatever you wanna call it. but it's how we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off that truly counts.

Any one can be depressed for no apparent reason. It could be that you are not producing enough serotonin. The happy chemical. You can try taking St. John's Wort that is a natural mood booster. Simply going for a walk is also a feel good mood booster. Most of us get the blues or feel depressed about three times a month. If you are feeling depressed for more than a week, go talk to a professional. Once you can get out of feeling depressed you will see that your self esteem will be better. There are many books out there that have helpful tips on improving self esteem. Try Mind Over Mood by Greenberger and Padesky. Good Luck.
I suggest reading the book "10 days to self esteem". It will help you figure out negative thought patterns in your life and help you change the negative things in your life that you may not be aware that you are doing. It will help you take ownership of your life and give you a sense of confidence that you can change anything/everything about your life that you want to be different. Good luck and God bless.
Make sure to get enough sleep and eat a healthy diet. As strange as it sounds, bad sleeping and eating habits can make you feel depressed.
Focus on things that make you happy. Have fun as much as you can, keep yourself busy, that way you won't have time to focus on depressing things.
Building self esteem can be tough, but it helps to spend time with people who like you for who you are. Don't listen to people who put you down. Replace any negative thoughts about yourself with positive ones, and instead of focusing on your flaws, focus on the good things about yourself.

I'm not depressed when I have something to get excited about. Maybe there's nothing to get excited about. Feeling trapped? (learned helplessness). Anger unexpressed and blocked up? A loss that went unacknowledged? (even the loss of an ideal). At least you know there is a problem, so there will be a solution.
You need to turn your life over to the Lord! Yes, easy as that. You will become content in any situation. You have to ask for this help. That is my experience!
Saying that, you may be needing medical help, as some people have a chemical problem.
All i can say is...Welcome To The Club!It's as if i wrote this.But there must be something causing your lack of confidence.What about your friends?Do you have any?Do people respect you?The thing is to do something and get appreciated for it.Do what you do best.For instance i draw and people like my drawings and this helps.If you like you can always send me an e-mail just fill the subject are with something i will recognize you with like "from Yahoo Answers" or something.
