I got a D in a science class (pre-req) i took for medical school, and i'm scared this will definitely hurt my chances of getting anywhere in an US medical school =( YEA I KNOW.. i should retake the class and better myself and my grade blah blah, buttttt problem is i'm a double major and a minor and have been taking 18-21 hours every semester with summer school too.. i'm about to apply for medical school next summer and obviously wont be retaking this class again.. so how will this D affect me ..will they even accept it? like will they even count me as even taking the pre req..will it be like as if i never even took the pre requisite??? im so scared.. i cannot believe i let this happen =( I try to stay positive and tell myself "you can do this" but its too much now.. im so freaked out! and what sucks is I KNOW i can be a good doctor but some grades that measured my intelligence with a piece of paper and pencil is going to prevent that =(
Update:by the way this is my only D... rest i got As or Bs.. and I have done many volunteer hours and shadowing, and went to couple mission trips.. so don't tell me to have a back up plan (i think a pre med student is smart enough to already have one in the first place) this is besides the point!.... i simply just asked how they will look at this D.

Find a backup plan now.
You probably shouldn't have double majored with a minor taking 18-21 credits each seemster if you knew you needed to have high GPA to get into med school.
Undergrad science classes are a complete joke compared to graduate level courses. If you got a D in that, you would fail the course miserably at the graduate level.
Retake the same exact course and do better next time! If you retake the course the NEW GRADE will replace the old grade, if you take the same course again AND take it at the same college. Most colleges allow you to retake a course at least once. Yes the D is bad for medical school. So simply retake the course and get a B or better. Get a tutor if you need help with the course (offered free peer to peer tutors at all colleges).
