This morning on the way to school, I got into a wreck & I was at fault. However, the damages were minimal, with a dent & scratches on my right two doors and a broken headlight on the other guy's car. I'm 18 and my license just expired last month, so I got a citation for that as well. As far as my insurance premium, how much is it likely to go up if the damage was small? And what are the legal ramifications? I'm actually very scared and upset, its my first accident and my parents are threatening to take my car away, which I understand. I just hope i'm not in as deep sh** as I think I might be.

relax first things first dont listen to answerers who skip answering your question and rant and rave like the tiny turds they are, keep in mind expired is much less severe than suspended. go get the license and bring it with you to the judge this will help a lot ok? go get your drivers license the accident is not on your record yet because you have not been to court and resolved the ticket. So dmv will have no record of it. By getting your license asap this will minimize and likely get the judge to dismiss the no license or give you a small fine. Also if you do not have any tickets on your record find out if your state does traffic school instead you may need to ask the judge for a referral to traffic school if available.
On the day of court arrive a few minutes early. Dress respectfully like you are going to church there is a court docket on the door of the courtroom see what number you are so you know when they will call your name. There will be a bunch of people there who all got tickets that same week so watch what the judge does and the fines he gives out as this is likely what will happen to you. Its no big deal use a lot of yes your honor or no your honor and you will be in and out of there as soon as possible

Friend, I wish you the best of luck in journey to fully recover from injury and get compensated well for the pain and suffering which as every body knows you are entitled to a compensation for the painful injury occurred and if I can do it with the right help then anybody can.
Most insurance companies probably increase the premiums 300-400$ per year. I don't know about the expired license. If your only worry is the expired license plate, generally that is not a large fine. You would have to have collision to have your car damage fixed, and there is a deductible there.I don't see that you did that much wrong and it sounds worse than it is.
You were driving on an expired license?! Given that, I would not be surprised if your insurance company either refused to pay the claim, or pay it and then drop you. It was HIGHLY irresponsible of you - and at 18, you ought to know better.
How much your insurance premiums will rise is the LEAST of your worries. Given that you were out driving when you shouldn't have been - on an expired license - you opened yourself to possible criminal charges which may even include jail time, depending on your state.
I'm siding with your parents on this one, even to the extent they take away your car, and I would even recommend they do.
Your insurers should disavow you over this, as you have no licence! The Cops will throw the book at you, and rightly so. You say it was minor damage, suppose you had put someone in a wheelchair, for the rest of their life, and their family were now suing you for all the money you will ever make in life?
Why do so many of you out there think that the laws of the land don't apply to them? What makes you a special case? You are up a river of excrement, in an Eskimo boat, and with no paddle.
