Yeh I just turned 22 years old and i want to do a locksmith apprenticeship. It says you cant have a criminal record which i do but that was when i was 18. Would my criminal record still be there. Also what are some personal abilities that i need to have. I have no experience with anything to do about locksmithing but am very interested. If you have done an apprenticeship or know someone who is a locksmith can you tell us please. CHEERS FROM SYDNEY AUSTRALIA.

I don't know what the laws are there. Where I live, there are state laws and city ordinances regarding this. Some convictions disqualify you for a certain number of years and some disqualify you completely. Depends on what the crime was.
Well in the U.S.A. you are an adult when you reach the age of eighteen so yes that would be on your record . Probably for the rest of your life but, that wouldn't stop me from trying to do something I wanted to do. When it comes to learning a trade I mean. I think it would be to your advantage. I think the personal abilities would have to be that you need allot of patience, and able to pick up some very tiny, tiny things. Or should I say works with your hands very well. It's real easy to learn that stuff and the only trouble I had was I couldn't remember the steps in order when master keying locks. I finally learned. You'll like it,I did.
