For english class we have to come up with a roughly 25 line poem about a memory. The last poem we did, i did very well on, but that's because i had a specific topic. Now we have too many choices, and i just cant get started because i need IDEAS! HELP! What should i write about?
no cliches are commonly used expressions, such as "pitch black"
any ideas are appreciated! thank you!
Update:thanks for the ideas! really they are good ideas hah but let me clarify a bit:
i need something like, a moment in time. a period of maybe like 2 mintues or something, like
the pressure was building up,
i didnt want to ride the coaster,
but i had to.
it was too late now,
i was already in line.
"just do it!", he said
he pushed me in line,
and here i am,
5 seconds away from puking on everyone sight.
ahah ok i just made that up.
so i need something like that.
it can be lighthearted or dark too

do u have any SPECIAL memories of an event that took place with a relative or friend? i always seem to do well when i write about my parents divorce.....a lot of memories and emotins....
Take a memory from each year of your life, and string them together.. If you can't remember one for each year, then make one up, or move them around a bit. The pattern will come from the sequence of years, so you don't need to make it rhyme. In fact it will be more reflective if it does not rhyme. Just concentrate on making each memory as poetic as possible.

IF
If you can hold your own when, others are outgrown,
And they lose their minds and upon you thrust,
If only you can confide in your friends, when others don't,
But let others have their way they want,
If you are still unpurturbed,by the harm they cause,
Or being denied your right, you do not their's steal,
And still do not stand to stare, nor look too unconcerned,
If you can still think of more fortunate, yet not envy those,
If you can still be calm and collected, and not let others irk,
If you can still let grief and happiness be an equal partner
And treat the two ironies, just the way one should,
If you can still share the fruits of your efforts
Taken away by others, who claim it as their own achievement,
Or still better see them earn fame and name at your cost,
And you can still face the world squarely and boldly.
If
If you can just forget the wrath and damage done,
And with a smile give them your clap and bravo,
And let each one of your foes ,line up ahead of you
And never utter a sound of pain and sorrow.
If you can still hold your cool, for long there after
To still be happy to bestow them praise
And feel not a bit of disgust towards malicious humanity
Expertly pass the message to them that you know, everything,
If you are the coolest one around in good company
Only you are yourself, amongst poor and the elite alike,
If no one is your enemy nor friend and both have a place.
If all you know can look upon you, with equal measure,
If you are always your normal self at all times,
With a million jobs well done , taken as theirs
You are the sun of Wisdom ,my progeny, all is your earning,
And what is most.....you are the only ''Human Being''.

Some Summers Past
Some summers past, we were standing,
For each others’ better halves waiting,
It was then our eyes did glance,
And their arrival we forgot perchance.
It was then your eyes met mine again,
Yes it was some summers past,
We smiled and blushed
At each others arms we thrust.
It was as if a moment God sent,
It was our summer at the end.
That day we still remember till today,
When we met that summers' day,
Ever since we have been two souls
Yet only in one, since that summer,
Yes it was the summer of our lives,
A long remembered association,
At last we built upon a union.
Still today you know, we remember that day,
When we met for a long life’s stay,
Yes my sweetheart it was the summer
It was the best of life’s summers,
If we both can say
It was over a few decades ago,
But for us it is still as if
It was just yesterday.
Yes many summers have passed away.
WHAT IS LOVE
Love is the nectar we all want,
And hold it in our hands like a cup,
How we wish it not to let it go,
As love is the only possession one does show. .
And hopes to nurse it for all times
Yet we hanker for more and do not share
What is love is love divine.
We always think of those times we wanted,
But our love was always daunted,
Hoping that some one will come our way
And upon us his whole beings love spray.
We still hope some day love will come our way
And lead us from the threshold of sadness
To a zone of timeless happiness;
And it will then only we will know
How love does blossom and glow.
Where love has gone
Our last kiss was just a parting,
And then we left for another world,
All that I can imagine now you are with another.
But some may be just worth a smile,
Some may be good looking too,
They may occupy your mind for a while.
But each time you kiss another,
My image will always you bother,
And make you then really want me,
Oh my dearest one, please come back to me.
WHERE IS MY LOVE
Last time we met it was perhaps our last.
Then it was up in our minds to forget the past.
My instinct tells me you are now in another’s arms.
But I know it is for just a while no more,
For when your lips turn dry you know
You will thirst for more, yes I mean more.
Only then you will know that you want
I back in your arms all the more.
