There is currently a lot of research being put into storm water capture and reclamation. The City of Los Angeles is on a campaign to develop new ideas that would be useful in the future. If you search LADWP, you could find many ideas that will fall under the category of an environmental project.

For an idea you could put out a newspaper using the approach to educate people by starting with Agriculture after the Stone Age and explain how democracy from the first use of agriculture by Native Americans could lead to democracy and conservation plus a green party in North America before Columbus came in 1492 and how similar things happened in Europe interrupted only by Empires and that there were even opportunities from the 19th Century with the Luddites and in the 1930's in Spain with eat locally grown food ideas to get away from industrialization and in 1930's in Spain oil.

Also consider how all this history could be put in the context of the environment and conservation.

How it could explain what the ideas of people in Spain were and a possibility of what happened during The Spanish Civil War in that oil interests could have been opposed to local food crops because highways and transport of food was of benefit to oil companies.

Maybe it might be better to look at what is out there in your area currently, and see what needs to be addressed, either because it is not being addressed, or because there is no one doing it currently.

Then organize and pursue one or two of those items that need to be addressed that you have the ready resources to draw upon.

Take a piece of paper, and make 4 columns, 1 is the needs in your group that any can think of. The second column is the existing organizations that are addressing those needs. Third column is the one you list your resources, the fourth column is the one where you write notes, and also annotate where there are needs without a group currently addressing them that you happen to have the resources to address.

well the best way i think where in they can understand their impacts in the environment is to calculate their won carbon footprint for them to truly realize that wven as individuals they contribute to the destruction of such environment. OR, well teh usual tree planting hehe. OR why let thme make a sort of documentary about the environment. or why not an album og pictures that they photographed telling a story about the environment and yiou can use it to have like a photo-exhibit.

Decompose some vegetables, or meat. Dirt will help with decomposition. This takes time just so you should know.

Ride a bike or walk to convenient places instead of taking a vehicle. Saves gas, money, and the O-Zone.

Do a project on the Yew tree and beneficial cancer cure of taxol it provides. Very new modern and cutting edge. maybe someone will start growing these trees for benefit.

See who can make the best water filter. People will understand how hard it is to clean and purify water. Search for "make water filter". I did this once for a school project/ contest. I won :)
