How much confidence is there for prospective donors to believe the GOP can win a national election now that factions of the GOP have blocked immigration reform...a bill supported by both business and labor?

No. The Democrats actually take the time to measure inner cities and the people they care for. Not send them out into the world.
What does immigration have to do with optimism and confidence? If there is any confidence involved, its a reaffirmation that Conservatives won't give in to empty promises and open the floodgates to an influx to millions of immigrants a year as opposed to the 1 million of metered immigration that is already allowed. It is a reaffirmation that Conservative principles are back in vogue.
Contrary to what you may have heard, illegal immigration is not near the top issue worrying Americans, including Hispanics....and GOP donors. The main issue for all is the economy. The current crop of Liberal Progressives don't have ANY understanding how to run, never mind fix, an economy. Republicans do, especially as Conservatism takes more hold in the Party. The only problem is finding Conservatives that are good communicators of the principles of Conservatism.
If any party depends on pure optimism, it's the Obama Administration. He had NOTHING to support him all this time except for that.
