I'm mostly paleo-conservative, with a healthy dash of libertarian.
I would call it the "American Party." My platform would be fiscally conservative and socially moderate, with a concerted effort to get the government out of many social issues (like marriage, gay or otherwise) entirely. My party's fiscal policies would be to restrain and even cut back on government spending (by getting the government OUT of things it does poorly, and emphasizing programs that it does well) until revenues exceed expenditures, then start whittling away at the national debt and funding shortfalls in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. My party would believe that our government should be less intrusive and consume a somewhat smaller portion of the GDP than it does today (and MUCH less than governments in, say, Europe do). My party would not be ashamed to say that we will put the interests of America and Americans first, and the rest of the world second. My party would try to find appropriate balances between regulated and free markets, but would largely hold people responsible for their own mistakes rather than bail them out, and would reward citizens who act responsibly (the current home-loan crisis comes to mind; many of us were shouting out years ago that ARMs were a horrible idea and only a fool would sign one, and sure enough...but it turns out that the fools get the bailout and those of us who actually PAID our mortgages get...what?) . My party would accept that there is a need for some degree of socialism, but not too much. My party would look at the Founding Father's intentions when they wrote the Constitution (a document designed to LIMIT the role of government) and would appoint strict constitutional literalists to the Supreme Court. My party would work to make the tax code less complicated, but no more progressive than it currently is. My party would pretty much follow the Bush Doctrine when it comes to terrorists, and would accept that most of the world, whatever they may actually say, depends on the USA to do whatever it can to keep the peace - that is, my party would be strong on national defense. Finally, my party would reform immigration policy to no longer favor certain countries and nationalities, and favor legal immigrants over illegal ones.
In short, I believe that my American Party would appeal to a majority of citizens. Alas, they must settle for the parts of it they get from the Democrats, the parts they get from the Republicans, and accept that big pieces of this imaginary platform are anathema to both.
I would call it the Realist Party and we would actually debate real issues and be open to public debate. We would be represented by the color Brown and our mascot would be a Moose. Also, in these debates no facts could be presented without first being cross checked by an independent group of "Fact checkers." Oh, and anyone that slams someone will be hit in the face with a creme pie...unless its funny and accurate in which case the person they slammed will get hit in the face with a creme pie...God I kind of want to do this now.
Dude, hasn't there already been a people's party? Get your own name man!
1st of all, there was already a People's Party, otherwise known as the Populist Party.
Second, my political party would consist of super secret special agents who controlled the government through subliminal messages in traffic lights. We would have war all of the time and we would not stand for any form of peace. My mommy would be the ringleader, she is ruthless.
i do not agree nor disagree with the bible. it really is not my faith, yet I do attempt to in some situations note of it in simple terms in case. yet, I really do not imagine they gave a **** about politics at the same time as the thoughts were written. nonetheless, if it suggested it became incorrect, then perchance i ought to guage it. yet regardless of this, i'm a marginally obdurate man or woman, and ought to easily bypass again to what I beileved earlier. =)
