i downloaded the free version on the kindle and the first page starts off with paradise but i thought it began with inferno? is their an order or is it paradise first or what?

It sounds like you got Dante's "The Divine Comedy." Right, it's in 3 parts: "Paradise," "Purgatory," and "The Inferno." Many people have read just "The Inferno," and it easily stands alone, apart from the first 2 books. Go for it!
