Okay, here are my questions.
Are the two women (sisters) aware that they are in a cult?
What do the two girls think happened to their parents?
Why would the mom kill her own daughter(the mother of two daughters) but not kill her two granddaughters?.
And how come the demon mostly messed with the older sister but befriended the younger sister?
This movie's good but so confusing!

They don't know anything, they're kind of possessed, as you can see in the other two films, they don't even remember.
She didn't kill her daughter, the entity did, she doesn't care about her daughter, she allowed it to happen.

I think, the mother said herself that she didn't want anymore kids. The grandmother wanted a boy and since the mother didn't want to give birth to one, she was now useless. I think she wanted to raise the two kids so they'll give birth to a boy. That's why in the end the younger sister said, "okay, I'll do it."
The older sister didn't believe in him and made fun of him. The younger sister is probably more naive and vulnerable.
