Laptops. Although iPads are the new trend and can almost do everything that a laptop can, the iPad still falls short. I would definitely recommend a macbook pro, or even an air now that they have upgraded it, and would only get an iPad for recreational use. Compared to PC's, macs are a little bit more expensive, but are well worth the money.

Macs will last you the longest, especially since they do not get viruses! Plus they are very durable, and mine has lasted me over 5 years (just make sure you upgrade the operating software)

if you are a student and you need something that will give you more options to do school work,laptop is the best choice. now if you just want something mobile, play music, games, lighter then ipad will work. think of it? how many people actually have an ipad but no laptop or some sort of computer? on the other hand, people who own's laptop most likely are content with it. hope this helps =)

Laptop by FAR. Ipads can NOT multitask. Hence if you wanted to lets say watch listen to songs or videos on youtube and websurf, you can't do it. Not to mention laptops build in keyboard is way better then any tablet and a mouse allows more precision. Also, the ipad CAN'T play flash so don't even think about it for that.

Lap top, theire more durable, plus iPads are so over rated. Eventually your touch screen is going to stop working. And iPads are always comming out with a newer version, your mostlikley going to want to upgrade to that new version which will make you spend money. My advice is to get a good laptop that will last you. And also, seeing that your not a big tech person, a laptop should be just right for you.
