Good God, no! They'd greet a burglar at the door, show him around the house, give him a kiss and watch him carry everything out your door, wagging his tail the entire time. They're one of the most docile breeds on Earth!
It really depends on the particular dog. Typically, yes. Labs are great! I had 2. If you are looking for a great guard dog I suggest a German Shepard or Korean Jindo! These are both brilliant dogs but strong. I chose these two because they are both obedient breeds yet strong and very protective of their family!
yes they are known to be very smart. so yes. if i were looking for a dog breed to guard my house most people would go to pit bull or something like that but a person who knows a lot about dogs would go to labs. although i prefer German shepherds as guards labs are second. lol
Not especially no. Labrador retrievers are bird hunting dogs and not necessarily very people oriented. They are intelligent and trainable and usually quite social and friendly so they are good companion dogs and service dogs but not so good as guard dogs. The working and herding breeds have the kind of personality of watchfullness and loyalty that make good guard dogs.
labs would be great guardian dogs...if u train them....well you see labs are not typical for guard dogs they are too friendly if a robber comes in he is most likely to run up to him and start licking him he would probably bark a little which might wake you up but i would prefer a German Shepherd!!!! they are perfect!! they are great with family and kids and also are bred for strength and protection!
not really because they are very friendly by nature. they may alert you to someone at the door, but probably wouldn't be the most protective dog if you are approached by a stranger. They are big so they would deter bad guys.
Not the best you can get, but most definitely yes. I've had my black lab for about 8 years, and if any strange character comes near me or my house while she's around, she'll growl, raise her hair and stand her ground.

Depends on the dog, really. Every dog has their own personality, so one lab could be perfect, and the other could totally suck.

In general yes but it really depends on the dog.
