Does this seem the type of person suited to testing anything?

I was thinking about a pretty odd case that happened a few years ago, They are called Mysterious fires in Caronia Italy and happened on 2 occasions. Things like water pipes

would just burst into flames. A set of VERY RATIONAL scientists went to investigate and one of the men just arrived was sitting on a wooden chair that the legs just burst into

spontaneous fire. I never heard any scientific evidence that explained what was happening there. The locals were Catholics and scared sensless it was the devil himself. The fires became so wide spread that the town was evacuated and left to the scientists to investigate. Cell phones they would hold just burst into flames. Disconnected toasters and frigs still were igniting. The power was pulled to the city a

week before and the fires continued uneffected.

Testing ruled out any known energy sources, any gases venting from the soil or water, the more tests being done by the scientist who were now there alone in the city watching these fires break out - the more paradoxical was the situation.

Religions are a matter of faith that can neither be proved or unproven, I respect that even though I'm an atheist myself, live and let live is my motto.

However paranormal activity is another matter all together, there are dozens of so called paranormal claims so I'll just choose one as an example, if a person for instance claims that he can move the pages of a book by thought alone (telekinesis) then it's up to him to prove that he can (extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Carl Sagan).
