I received by mail today what seems to be a ticket to go on a vacation on a cruise line. I wanted to call but I don't want since later they may be calling me 10 times a day.
It says it departs in Ft. Lauderdale.
Is it true?

Be VERY CAREFUL as no cruise company sends anybody cruise tickets without a catch. Like it may be a timeshare presentation with a 2 day cruise to like Ensenada or something like that. They get you on the ship and then try very very hard to talk you into buying a timeshare. Call them from a pay phone, but what ever you do, do not give them your credit card number. NO LEGIT COMPANY GIVES AWAY FREE CRUISES!
Sorry, I would be skeptical... In fact, if it only says Caribbean Cruise Line it sounds as if someone is trying to pull a sneaky and make people think of Royall Caribbean Cruise Line. If it does indeed have Royal Caribbean written on it, and you just forgot that part on here, it's easy enough to call the cruise-line and ask what the deal is.
It's most likely a vacation travel club (VTC) travel agency that's offering it to entice you to listen to a sales presentation. I just went on a sales presentation with a company in Branson, MO and they offered us discount accommodations, vouchers for 2 breakfasts at a local restaurant, and discounted tickets to shows that weekend ONLY if we sat through the sales presentation. They also advertised discounted cruises and other vacations in addition to resort accommodations. There have been many complaints about the company regarding lack of savings on discounted travel, but without their membership, getting into nice resorts is next to impossible, let alone at affordable prices. I've already researched that.
They sell memberships for discounted travel. It's not a scam, it's a time-share deal. They will all tell you it's not time-share but they all are. A VTC membership can be expensive (a few thousand dollars plus an annual fee) but it's nice to have if you're going to use it a lot. You will probably get your money's worth over many trips and many years. It's about like buying a house...it takes some time to see the equity.
Do yourself a favor and don't fall for it. When you are ready to go on a cruise, do the work yourself or go through a travel agent. First begin your research by going to websites of various cruise lines, decide when and where you want to go, what part of the ship you want to stay (interior, oceanview window or balcony, upper decks cost more, lower decks are cheaper), and how many days/nights you want to travel. Keep track of your information and check back each week using the same criteria. Look for "Early Bird" and "Last Minute" specials. The more you cruise, the better rates you get.
I hop yo found this helpful.
Good luck and have fun when you go!
Soon to be 2nd time cruiser....
It seems to be right on that line between plain old bad business and consumer fraud. Most people consider it a scam.
Yeah right, you won a free ticket lol, thats scam.
We got the same thing...it's a scam!
