Okay so I got the mirena iud in june of 2011. I got it 7 weeks after having my son. I had sexual intercourse with the hubby late september, early october, then late october early november..for a while I have just been feeling pregnant. Bloated, cramps, slight nausea...bearly any, back pain (i think due to the fact I got an epidural). I have taken 5 pregnancy test and all were negative, are they accurate or is the mirena causing false negatives? I have never been able to feel my strings and I have not gotten my period since I got mirena. A piece of me thinks it is embedded into my uterus which is freaking me out...i dont want more kids now, so thats scary also. Help me; what do you think?
P.s; also tell me about your experiences with mirena.
Thanks!!

Mirena is the most reliable method of contraception other than sterilisation. The fact your pregnancy tests are negative means you are not pregnant. Nausea/bloating/cramping might be signs of something else not necessarily pregnancy. If you are concerned see your doctor for a checkup.
Not having your period is normal OK Mirena works by thickening your cervical mucous which prevents sperm entering your womb & by preventing your womb lining building up so there is nowhere for a fertilised egg to embed if you did happen to conceive so you would not become pregnant.
Have you been back to have the IUS checked by your doctor since it was fitted? A simple glance at your cervix will tell the doctor if the device is still in situ as the strings will be visible even if you cannot feel them yourself.
I never bothered checking for my strings the Mirena stopped my periods which is why I had it fitted back in 2007 (not for contraception) so as long as I got no periods I knew it was still there working as it should. I found weight gain was an issue, also lack of libido (sex drive).
Back pain is a problem after epidural, I still have back problems 17 years after my last epidural.
